Laverstoke Park Education Centre (LPEC) is the Educational Trust for Laverstoke Park Farm (The largest biodynamic smallholding in the world). LPEC is a registered charity (charity number: 1098108) whose aims are to promote bio-diverse farming and healthy sustainable nutrition.
LPEC is committed to teaching all generations the importance of natural farming in today's world, offering educational insights for all ages covering every aspect of bio-diverse farming.
The website has been designed for different age groups, Key Stage 1 and 2, Key Stage 3 and 4 and further education Key Stage 5. This enables easy access to each age group for both students and teachers.
LPEC also has an exclusive area for teacher access, outlining aspects of the national curriculum and further education that can be covered through visits and on the website. LPEC will be introducing a calendar and webcams around the farm in the near future.
The plan is for LPEC to create a “Rural Dimension" Network utilising the Virtual Schools platform and Rucksacks. With LPEC as the UK’s “Bio Hub", agricultural colleges, farms and school farms will be encouraged to register and use LPEC as a school resource enabling schools and their students to access resources and projects online.
In support of School visits LPEC will provide online resources linked to relevant areas of the curriculum allowing students to work remotely. They can evaluate work against seasonal changes and compare work with other results such as those from other farms. Each school will be linked using Rucksacks and all students will be able to use their Rucksack to record their involvement, achievements and Skills.
LPEC is also working closely with HCC and LEAs towards sustainable development, sustainable schools, healthy schools, Enterprise, New Diplomas, and various other subjects.
