ITQ Awards

Virtual Schools is now providing the platform for a new level 1 and 2 qualification (worth up to 4 GCSE’s) being piloted by ICAA examination Board in the UK this year. 56 Schools and up to 5,000 students will take part in the pilot approved by the QCA (qualifications curriculum authority) and DfES.

Schools and Students will sign up online where they will create individual portfolio’s identifying their individual IT skills levels. These portfolio’s will then be evaluated and credited online. Students will be able to embed their ITQ Award within their Rucksack. Subject to final approval by the QCA it is expected that ICAA ITQ’s will become recognized national qualifications from September 2007.

This will immediately make them available through our platform to every school in the UK and 400 UK schools worldwide. ICAA currently have over 2,500 schools and over 250,000 students taking their exams and at the very least expect this number to take ITQ’s in September 2007.

In addition discussions are already well advanced regarding the use of the Virtual Schools platform for other online GCSE courses and in partnership with ICAA we expect to launch “Go Chinese later this year.
